Kathmandu, May 28
Finance Minister Bishnu Paudel says the government has found it difficult to achieve the revised annual growth target of 4.01 per cent in the current fiscal year that is ending mid-July.
Making public the Economic Survey for this year in Kathmandu on Friday, the minister said the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic has shattered the national economy.
Initially, the government had set a target of seven per cent economic growth. However, the Central Bureau of Statistics had revised it to 4.01 per cent.
Last year, the growth rate had gone down to -2.12 per cent, a negative after several years.
Speaking at the event, Finance Secretary Shishir Kumar Dhungana said the national economy had already begun to improve before the beginning of the lockdown in Kathmandu and other parts of the country, the lockdown created a problem again.
