Kathmandu, September 5
The Ministry of Home Affairs has urged the public not to carry out any activists protesting India’s alleged involvement in the Darchula incident in late June.
In the incident, a Nepali man had disappeared after he reportedly fell off a tuin, a makeshift cable contraption installed across the river to cross it, as soon as an Indian border security staffer allegedly snapped it.
On Friday, members of the student wing of the CPN-Unified Socialist, a party in Nepal’s ruling coalition, had burned an effigy of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Kathmandu. Two days after that, the ministry issued a statement and said the government was committed to solving existing issues through mutual dialogues.
Citing its attention was drawn to the incident of burning the effigy, the ministry warns the government will control such activities and takes action against the people involved.
The ministry has urged the public to not carry out any activities that could jeopardise the dignity and respect of neighbouring countries.
