Jaya Prithvi Bahadur Singh honoured as a national hero

The government has declared Jaya Prithvi Bahadur Singh a national hero.

The government spokesperson Gyanendra Bahadur Karki announced the decision of the cabinet meeting on Tuesday.

Jaya Prithvi Bahadur Singh has been recognised for his contribution to the development of Nepal’s education sector and for promoting Nepal in the world.

He was the king of Bajhang. He published Gorkhapatra in 1901. His book Aksharank Shiksha is considered to be the first textbook in the Nepali language; along with it, he also wrote another book Prakrit Byakaran. He passed away on June 20, 1940.

There are now 18 national heroes of Nepal.
