Kathmandu, August 30
Stakeholders have suggested Nepal needs to improve women’s access to financial investment for the country’s prosperity.
They said so during a panel discussion organised by Daayitwa, an NGO active in policy reforms, on Monday. The discussion was organised as a part of its ECO Talks Series.
The speakers were lawmaker Chanda Chaudhary (also an ex-women, children and senior citizens minister), Nepal Rastra Bank executive director Gunakar Bhatta, value chain expert Monisha Shrestha, FWEAN first vice-president Shova Gyawali, and One to Watch executive director Suman Joshi.
“The panel recommended innovative alternatives like psychometric scoring, the digital footprint of loan applicants to establish credit guarantee schemes to improve women’s access to finance,” a statement issued after the meeting reads.
The event brought together over 50 policymakers and representatives of CSOs, private companies, journalists and other relevant policy stakeholders.
