Kathmandu, September 30
Kathmandu traffic police have revealed an alarming status about VIPs violating traffic rules in the capital.
In one month from August 17 to September 16, the top state officials of the country have been found violating the road rules over 1,200 times in total.
The Ministry of Home Affairs generally informs traffic police about the routes that these VIPs are using. In such cases, the traffic police turn the road lights off and facilitate their travel. It means they are not counted as offences.
But, sometimes, the officials go to the road without informing the concerned authorities, yet tend to break the rules.
The following table shows the frequency of VIPs violating traffic rules in Kathmandu at times when the police were not informed of their journeys:
SN | Official | Frequency of violation | Junctions of violation |
1 | President Bidya Devi Bhandari | 85 | 18 |
