Dhangadhi, January 25
A magnitude 5.9 earthquake in the Bajura district of Sudurpaschim killed at least one person on Tuesday, according to local officials.
Jamuna Rokaya died after being crushed by a stone that fell off in the earthquake in a local forest in Jureli, Gaumul rural municipality-2 of the district. The woman was collecting grass for her cattle there.
DSP Surya Thapa, the chief of the District Police Office, says six houses collapsed in Himali rural municipality and Badimalika municipality of the district.
