TVS iQube in Nepal: Stylish modern electric scooter with 100km range launching soon

Jagadamba Motors; the only authorised distributor of TVS Motorbikes and scooters in Nepal is set to bring TVS’s first electric scooter in Nepal; the TVS iQube. The electric scooter was unveiled in 2020 in India and comes in three variants. However, only the base variant of the electric scooter will be available in Nepal with the pre-booking already open.

TVS series like the Apache RTR and Ntorq series are popular and loved models from TVS in Nepal. The electric scooter will be a competition with other scooters in the same price range like the Zeeho Ae8 and the Super Soco CPx.

Design

The TVS iQube is not very flashy but instead boasts a simple modern stylish design. In terms of design, it is very similar to the TVS Jupiter. It is going to be available in just one colour option white in Nepal.

The front of the scooter has a LED DRL strip in front of the TFT display whereas the LED headlights are just above the tyres in a rectangular shaped box with LED indicators on each side. The DRL strip is simple and the LED headlights provide enough lighting.

The rear of the TVS iQube is also simple with a strip of LED taillights with LED indicators on either side.

The TVS iQube has a 5-inch TFT display which shows information such as modes, range, speed, power consumption, battery percentage, average speed, trip meter, time, date and distance to empty. When you connect the electric scooter using the TVS smartxconnect to your mobile app, it also shows the location. The display in the upper variants is a touch screen, which is not available in the base variant Nepal is getting.

The boot space is decent at 17 litres. You cannot fit a full-face helmet but a half-face helmet easily fits in it. The battery pack is below the boot and is non-removable. The charging socket is found below the instrument display on the left side.

The seat is also comfortable. The seat height is 770mm which is pretty good.

Performance

The TVS iQube is equipped with a BLDC Hub Mounted motor that delivers a peak power of 4.4 kW and a rated power of 3 kW. It can generate a peak torque of 140 Nm and a rated torque of 33 Nm. The motor and the battery have an IP67 rating protecting them against dust and water.

It is powered by a 3.4 kWh Lithium Ion battery with a rated voltage of 52 V. For charging TVS provides a 650W charger. Using the 650 W charger, it takes about 4 hours and 30 minutes to charge from 0 to 80%.

The scooter offers two riding modes for different ranges: Economy mode which gives a range of 100 km, while Power mode gives a range of 75 km. Braking is handled by a 220mm disc at the front and a 130mm drum at the rear. As for suspension the iQube features telescopic suspension at the front and a hydraulic twin-tube shock absorber at the rear.

The TVS iQube base model also features regenerative braking, which helps conserve energy while braking. It can reach a top speed of 78 km/hr and accelerates from 0 to 40 km/h in just 4.2 seconds.

The TVS iQube is equipped with tubeless tyres and has a size of 90/90-12 on both front and rear.

The TVS iQube has a lot of colour options available in India, however only the white colour option is set to be available in Nepal.
