The monitoring team has taken action against the Valley Petrol Pump in Garigaon, Kathmandu, by sealing it due to allegations of dispensing fuel in quantities below the standard.
A team member stated that a collaborative effort involving the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, Nepal Bureau of Standards and Metrology, National Vigilance Centre, and Nepal Oil Corporation discovered that the petrol pump was dispensing fuel in quantities below the standard during their inspection.
“It was found that they were giving less oil at the same price as that set by the corporation,” said a team member.
During the inspection, the team had to refill the measuring container up to three times. It was observed that the quantity obtained was insufficient to fill a litre of oil on two separate occasions.
On Tuesday, the joint monitoring team inspected three petrol pumps in Kathmandu. The assessment was conducted at the Three Brothers Petrol Pump in Naya Baneshwar, the Jhasa Petrol Pump in Lalitpur, and the Valley Petrol Pump in Garigaon. As reported by the monitoring team, two of these pumps were found to be in subpar condition.
Sources within the Prime Minister’s and Council of Ministers’ Office stated that the Valley Petrol Pump has been sealed, and investigations are underway for additional measures.
