A squad from the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office arrested two individuals involved in the illegal narcotics trade. In the process, the police had to resort to opening fire to arrest them.
The individuals who were arrested are identified as 48-year-old Mohammad Karim from West Bengal, India, and 35-year-old Harka Limbu from Jhapa district of Nepal, according to spokesperson of the office SP Rabindra Regmi.
“Mohammad Karim has sustained injuries when police had to fire at them for self-defence. He is being treated at the Gothatar-based Kantipur Hospital,” Regmi said.
Police have confiscated a 6.75mm pistol and three rounds of its bullet, a 200-gram substance that looks like brown sugar and a weighing machine.
