Nepal Police opened fire during a clash with protestors at the Simraungadh Municipality office in Bara. One person was injured in the police firing.
A dispute arose when Kishori Shah Kalwar, the mayor of Simraungadh Municipality, was taking the chief administrative officer for attendance, and a group obstructed their passage.
The police were deployed to control the clash following a dispute. Subsequently, after the clash, the police opened fire. Bara SP Suresh Kafle reported that one person was injured as a result of the police firing.
Kafle said that during the efforts to control the clashes, 10 policemen sustained injuries from stones thrown by protesters. He stated that one of the protestors was shot when the police fired into the air to bring the situation under control.
The identity of the individual who was shot has not been disclosed. Kafle said that the injured policemen were promptly transported to the hospital for treatment.
With the chief administrative officer absent, the employees of the municipality have not been getting their salaries and allowances for the past two months.
