Kathmandu, April 9
Fourteen members of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) were injured in the clash with the police during the demonstration of the RPP and two people were arrested by the police.
AIG of Kathmandu Valley Police Office Deepak Thapa informed that 14 people of RPP were injured and two people were taken into custody during the clash with the police.
According to him, during the clashes, the protesters threw stones and tried to advance towards the forbidden area, so the police detained the RPP members.
At first, the police threw water cannons at the protestors. However, when the protestors did not stop, they were charged with batons.
The RPP has been demanding that the republic should be abolished, that there should be a system of government with a king, that secularism should be abolished and Nepal should be declared a Hindu nation.
The demonstration was led by party president Rajendra Lingden. Security has been tightened in the restricted area.
