Kathmandu, July 15

Argentina has triumphed in the Copa America, securing their record-breaking 16th title after defeating Colombia in a dramatic final.

The 48th Copa America final, held on Monday morning at the Hard Rock Stadium in Florida, USA, saw Argentina clinch a 1-0 victory over Colombia thanks to a decisive goal from Lautaro Martinez during extra time.

Martinez netted the winning goal in the 112th minute, following a precise pass from Giovani Lo Celso. Both players had entered the game in the 97th minute.

The match extended into extra time as neither team managed to score in the regulation 90 minutes. Martinez, the tournament’s top scorer, solidified his status with his fifth goal of the competition.

Argentine captain Lionel Messi had to exit the field due to an injury in the second half, with Nicolas Gonzalez replacing him in the 66th minute.

This victory marks Argentina as the most successful team in Copa America history, surpassing Uruguay’s record of 15 titles.

Moreover, this win adds to Argentina’s streak of major titles, following their Copa America win in 2021 and FIFA World Cup victory in 2022.
