Ambica Shrestha, the esteemed proprietor of Dwarika’s Hotel and Resort, has passed away at the age of 91. She died on Thursday while undergoing treatment at Medicity Hospital in Lalitpur.
Shrestha had been battling pneumonia for the past two months. Her family has announced that the funeral will be held on Friday at Pashupati Aryaghat.
With a remarkable career spanning 65 years in the hotel and tourism industry, Shrestha had been at the helm of Dwarika’s since 1991. She successfully overcame cancer four years ago. Shrestha is survived by her two daughters; her husband and son predeceased her.
Known for her leadership roles in various associations and organisations within the tourism sector, Shrestha’s contributions were significant. She operated hotels in Kathmandu and Dhulikhel under the Dwarika’s name and managed several travel agencies.
