NEPSE: Nepal stock market drops to 2,639 points

The NEPSE index plunged by 57.99 points on Monday, closing at 2,639. Alongside the market drop, the total transaction volume also decreased. While the previous trading day saw a transaction of Rs 8.18 billion, today’s figure stood at Rs 5.90 billion.

Prices of 23 companies rose, while 221 saw a decline. All sector indices registered losses, with Finance taking the biggest hit at 3.38 per cent. The Banking sector dropped by 2.30 per cent, Development Banks by 1.78 per cent, Hotels and Tourism by 1.66 per cent, Hydropower by 2.05 per cent, Investment by 2.51 per cent, Life Insurance by 2.15 per cent, Manufacturing by 1.65 per cent, Microfinance by 1.89 per cent, Non-Life Insurance by 1.76 per cent, Others by 2.34 per cent, and Trading by 0.28 per cent.

On the other hand, Vin Nepal Laghubitta saw a 10 per cent increase in its share price, followed by Corporate Development Bank with a 9.8 per cent rise, Kalika Laghubitta by 5.5 per cent, People’s Hydropower by 4.84 per cent, and Manushi Laghubitta by 3.99 per cent.

Meanwhile, Ngadi Group Power dropped by 9.2 per cent, Goodwill Finance by 5.6 per cent, Chhyangdi Hydropower by 4.7 per cent, Eastern Hydropower by 4.7 per cent, and Gorkhas Finance by 4.6 per cent. Regarding transaction volume, Himalayan Reinsurance, Ngadi Group, Kumari Bank, Goodwill Finance, and Nepal Finance led the market.
