NEPSE nears 2,700 points

Nepal’s stock market index, NEPSE, moved closer to the 2,700 mark on Sunday, gaining 19.56 points to settle at 2,698.

The daily turnover also saw a significant rise, reaching Rs 9.47 billion, up from Rs 7.92 billion recorded the previous trading day. Out of the traded stocks, 176 companies saw an increase in their share prices, while 63 declined, and four remained unchanged. The finance sector attracted notable investor interest, surging by 4.94 %, the highest among all sectors.

The banking sector rose by 0.98%, development banks gained 0.08%, while hotel and tourism advanced by 1.95%. Hydropower edged up by 0.36%, investment increased by 1.17%, life insurance grew by 0.39%, and manufacturing climbed 0.20%. Microfinance rose by 1.86%, while the “others” and trading categories gained 0.38% and 0.25%, respectively. Non-life insurance was the only sector to decline, falling by 1.28%.

Six companies—Win Nepal Laghubitta, Guras Laghubitta, Nepal Finance, Janaki Finance, Guardian Micro Life Insurance, and Pokhara Finance—registered a 10% gain. Meanwhile, Nyadi Hydropower dropped by 10%, followed by NLG Insurance at 9.55%, Barahi Hydropower at 7.41%, and Corporate Development Bank at 5.8%.

In terms of trading volume, NRN Infrastructure, CEDB Holdings, Himalayan Power Partner, Nyadi Hydropower, and Saptakoshi Development Bank led the market.
