The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index declined by 12.38 points on Thursday, the last trading day of the week, settling at 2,669 points.
Alongside the index drop, the total transaction volume also decreased. While the previous day recorded transactions worth Rs 5.14 billion, Thursday’s trading volume stood at Rs 4.56 billion.
Among the traded stocks, 25% of companies saw an increase in share prices, with 62 companies recording gains, 175 declining, and seven remaining unchanged. The trading sector was the only one to post a gain, rising by 0.26%.
The finance sector experienced the steepest decline, falling by 1.26%. Other sectoral declines included banking (-0.48%), development banks (-0.18%), hotels and tourism (-0.48%), hydropower (-0.69%), investment (-0.22%), life insurance (-0.04%), manufacturing (-0.70%), microfinance (-0.66%), non-life insurance (-0.89%), and others (-0.59%).
Dolti Power recorded the highest price gain at 7.5%, followed by Asian Hydropower (5.4%), Sindhu Development Bank (4.9%), Guardian Micro Life Insurance (4.4%), and Swetganga Hydropower (4.2%).
Conversely, Mithila Laghubitta and Bhugol Energy saw the sharpest declines, each dropping by 10%.
In terms of transaction volume, Nepal Reinsurance, Himalayan Reinsurance, Sindhu Development Bank, United Modi Hydropower, and Ghalemdi Hydropower led the market.
