After declining for seven consecutive trading days, the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) rebounded on Wednesday, gaining 17.28 points to close at 2,736 points.
During the trading session, the index peaked at 2,745 points at 12:42 pm. Despite the market’s rise, the total transaction amount slightly decreased, with turnover dropping from Rs 8.39 billion on the previous day to Rs 8.23 billion today.
Most sectors recorded gains, with the banking sector increasing by 0.53 per cent, finance by 0.02 per cent, hotels and tourism by 0.64 per cent, hydropower by 0.85 per cent, investment by 1.76 per cent, life insurance by 0.64 per cent, manufacturing by 0.18 per cent, non-life insurance by 0.40 per cent, others by 1.57 per cent, and trading by 0.21 per cent. However, the microfinance and development bank sectors declined by 0.27 per cent and 0.33 per cent, respectively.
Peoples Hydropower saw the highest gain with a 9.79 per cent increase, followed by Prabhu Insurance at 7.89 per cent, Divyashwori Hydropower at 7.67 percent, Ghalemdi Hydropower at 6.71 per cent, and Manakamana Engineering Hydropower at 6 percent. On the losing side, Vinn Nepal Microfinance dropped by 10 per cent, Corporate Development Bank by 4.31 per cent, and Green Development Bank by 3.8 per cent.
In terms of trading volume, Machhapuchchhre Bank (Promoter Shares), Himalayan Reinsurance, NRN Infrastructure, Ghalemdi Hydropower, and Nepal Reinsurance Company led the market.
