Kathmandu, April 11
Durga Prasai, the main instigator of the violent protest on March 28, has been arrested in India, according to police sources. He has already been brought back to Nepal.
Prasai, who ran over police officers with a vehicle during the incident in Tinkune, had gone out of contact shortly afterward. Since then, the police had been searching for him. Meanwhile, Prasai had been posting videos on social media claiming he was not on the run.
Despite continued messages from his side on social media, the police faced criticism for failing to track him down.
Prasai was brought to Kathmandu today. He was flown in from Guwahati, Assam, via Jhapa. He is currently in the custody of the Kathmandu District Police Office.
Earlier on Friday morning, he was briefly held at the Jhapa District Police Office before being taken to Chandragadhi Airport. He was handcuffed during his transfer from the district police office to the airport.
