NEPSE: Stock market drops to 2734 points

The NEPSE index dropped by 14.12 points on Wednesday, closing at 2734. Despite the decline, trading volume increased slightly, with transactions reaching Rs 7.91 billion compared to Rs 7.85 billion the previous day.

Out of all listed companies, 99 saw their share prices rise, 138 fell, and 7 remained unchanged. Investor interest was particularly strong in the finance sector, which grew by 4.2% despite the overall market dip. Development banks and the hydropower sector also posted gains, with increases of 1.47 per cent and 0.81 per cent, respectively.

In contrast, banking declined by 1.37 per cent, hotels and tourism by 0.06 per cent, investment by 1.11 per cent, life insurance by 1.19 per cent, manufacturing by 0.96 per cent, microfinance by 0.37 per cent, non-life insurance by 1.23 per cent, others by 0.83 per cent, and the trading group by 1.61 per cent.

Several stocks, including Saptakoshi Development Bank, Sirjanshil Laghubitta, Makar Jitumaya Suri Hydropower, Pokhara Finance, and Samriddhi Finance, saw gains of 10 per cent. Rawa Energy, Balefi Hydropower, and Support Microfinance increased by 9.91 per cent, 9.88 per cent, and 9.15 per cent, respectively.

On the other hand, Kutheli Bukhari Small Hydropower fell by 10 per cent, while Samaj Laghubitta, NLG Insurance, and Butwal Power dropped by 4.93 per cent, 4.04 per cent, and 3.63 per cent, respectively.

In terms of trading volume, Janaki Finance, Pokhara Finance, Saptakoshi Development Bank, Samriddhi Finance, and Peoples Hydropower led the market.
