Kathmandu, December 2
Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has departed for Beijing on a four-day official visit to the People’s Republic of China. The visit comes at the invitation of Chinese Premier Li Qiang, underscoring the strong ties between the two neighboring countries.
Deputy Prime Minister and Urban Development Minister Prakash Man Singh, along with Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak, bid farewell to Prime Minister Oli at the VVIP lounge of Tribhuvan International Airport. Also present were Minister of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation Badri Prasad Pandey, senior government officials, and chiefs of Nepal’s security agencies.
Prior to his departure, Prime Minister Oli was accorded a ceremonial guard of honour by a unit of the Nepali Army. Prime Minister Oli departed for China at 11 am on a special chartered flight of Himalaya Airlines. His delegation is scheduled to arrive in Beijing at 6:10 p.m. The visiting team includes 46 members from the government and 32 from the private sector, making a total of 78 members.
During his stay in Beijing, Prime Minister Oli will meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping and hold discussions with Premier Li on various bilateral issues of mutual interest, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He is also scheduled to meet Zhao Leji, Chairman of the Standing Committee of China’s National People’s Congress.
As part of his itinerary, Prime Minister Oli will address an event at Peking University and participate in the Nepal-China Business Forum, co-hosted by the Nepali Embassy in Beijing, the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, and the Nepal Federation of Commerce and Industry.
The Nepali delegation accompanying Prime Minister Oli includes his spouse Radhika Shakya, Foreign Minister Arzu Rana Deuba, Chief Adviser Bishnu Prasad Rimal, Economic and Development Adviser Yuba Raj Khatiwada, Members of Parliament, senior government officials, private sector representatives, and members of the media.
Prime Minister Oli is set to return to Nepal on December 5.
