Kathmandu, Janaury 2
The airfare for Nepali workers traveling to South Korea under the Employment Permit System (EPS) has been finalised.
The EPS Korea branch under the Department of Foreign Employment announced that Universal Tours and Travels Pvt Ltd was selected after submitting the most effective bid in the tender called on October 29, 2024.
According to the branch, Universal Tours will provide one-way tickets from Kathmandu to Seoul at Rs 48,665 per worker, excluding VAT. Including VAT, the fare will be Rs 54,991 per ticket.
Previously, ticket prices had soared up to Rs 123,000, leading to widespread criticism due to the excessive cost. In response, the government called for a tender to reduce airfare rates. Universal Tours won the bid by offering the lowest rate.
Starting January 16, Universal Tours will provide one-way tickets at this rate for one year to workers traveling to South Korea under EPS.
The fare reduction comes as a significant relief to workers, addressing concerns over the previously exorbitant ticket prices.
