A national competition in the adventure tourism sport of rafting is set to take place for the first time in Nepal. The Gandaki Province Sports Council has announced it will organise the “National Rafting Championship 2081” (Ultra Rafting Marathon) as part of its annual development program.
Previously regarded solely as an adventure tourism activity, rafting will now feature as a competitive sport. The championship is scheduled for February 16 and 17 and will span from Manakamana (Fishling) to Devghat.
The council has invited interested teams to participate in the event. Participating teams must manage their own equipment, including life jackets, helmets, paddles, and rafts. All team members are required to be proficient swimmers, and alcohol consumption is strictly prohibited. Each team must consist of seven players. Winners will be awarded cash prizes, medals, and certificates.
