Nepal votes in favour of Ukraine at the UN

Kathmandu, February 25

Nepal has voted in favor of the United Nations General Assembly resolution on “comprehensive, just, and lasting peace in Ukraine,” taking a stance different from its neighbors, India and China.

The resolution was passed three years after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. A total of 93 countries, including Nepal, supported the resolution, while 18 opposed it, and 65 abstained from voting.

The United States, which had previously backed Ukraine, shifted its position by voting against the resolution, sparking global discussions on the change in U.S. policy.
