Kathmandu, March 17
Regular commercial charter flights will be operated at Pokhara International Airport starting from Chengdu, China, to mark the 70th anniversary of Nepal-China diplomatic relations.
Sichuan Airlines will operate regular commercial charter flights for the first time at Pokhara International Airport starting Tuesday.
The Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) believes this flight will enhance tourism promotion and cultural exchange by providing a direct regional air connection between Nepal and China.
A press release issued by the NTB on Sunday reads, “The Pokhara-Chengdu air service will make it easier for people from mid- and western Nepal to access aviation services and provide an opportunity for Chinese tourists to visit the beautiful city of Pokhara.”
“The air connectivity will play a significant role in increasing the arrival of foreign tourists to Nepal, supporting the ‘Visit Nepal 2025’ initiative declared by the Chinese government and the ‘Pokhara Tourism Year’ campaign launched by the government of Nepal,” the statement added.
A Nepali delegation is scheduled to participate in the ‘Pokhara-Chengdu Flight Promotion and China (Sichuan) Sales Mission 2025’ on a commercial charter flight from Chengdu to Pokhara.
The Nepali delegation will meet with various government and private sector representatives in different cities of China, including Chengdu.
This initiative will help establish Nepal as an international tourism destination and deepen cultural exchanges between the two countries, according to the NTB.
