Madhesh Province to boycott SEE

NEB see certificate - SEE exam

Janakpurdham, March 19

Madhesh Province Chief Minister Satish Kumar Singh has announced that the provincial government will not participate in the Secondary Education Examination (SEE), which begins on April 2.

Speaking at a press conference at the Office of the Chief Minister and Council of Ministers on March 18, Singh stated that the province’s concerns and decisions regarding SEE have been ignored.

“On March 10, we decided to select examination center heads through a lottery system to make SEE more dignified and systematic. Since this decision was not implemented, the provincial government will not participate in any SEE-related activities,” said Chief Minister Singh.

Several teachers’ associations and unions opposed the lottery system, and due to this resistance, the Examination Selection Committee, chaired by the Chief District Officer, had to revert to the previous practice of appointing center heads arbitrarily.

“We made this decision after informing the National Examination Board, but it was disregarded. Weakening the role of the provincial government is unacceptable,” Singh added.

Earlier, the Madhesh Province Educational Directorate in Janakpurdham had announced that 88,858 students from 1,231 schools would be taking the SEE at 312 examination centers across the province. A total of 12,242 employees and 4,580 security personnel have been mobilised for the examinations.
