
On the occasion of the 36th Foundation Day of the college and 65th Annual Anniversary of Tribhuvan University, the book Life is (not) a Tale by Fr. Dr. Augustine Thomas S.J. the Principal of St.Xavier’s College, Maitighar recently.
According to a press statement released by the college, the book was jointly released by Regional Superior of Nepal Jesuit Society, Fr. Amrit Rai S.J, one of the founding members of the college; Nirmal Krishna Shrestha and esteemed alumnus and former Miss Nepal, Sadichha Shrestha.
According to one of the reviewers, Fr. James Amakatt, S.J., the book will show the way to ‘Know Yourself’ and be contemplative in action. The book, which was conceptualised in 2009, took more than a decade to come to life and amasses recollections of Fr. Augustine’s life, and experiences.
Quoting Fr. Dr. Augustine Thomas, S.J. it stated, “Being involved in the holistic development of young people in college, I became part of their struggles, questions, and confusions about life, God, purpose, relationships, family, and more. As I listened to more individuals, it became clearer how similar many people’s struggles are in their pursuit of a purposeful and harmonious life.” Drawing from his experiences, he added that Life Is (not) a Tale highlights key points about life that matter in day-to-day existence and offers small steps to incorporate happiness into daily living.
On the occasion, former Miss Nepal and alumnus of the college, Sadichha Shrestha reflected on her time as a student in the college, praising the college for having prepared her for not just a career but also life. Acknowledging the contribution by Dip Prakash Pandey, a Xavierian and CMC member, the college felicitated Pandey.
The celebration included cultural performances and the release of the SXC journals that displayed the intellectual prowess of St. Xavier’s College.
