Kathmandu, May 17
Probably in the first of such cases in the country, the Kavre District Court has begun hearing the cases online to avoid the risk of coronavirus infection amid the surge in the cases across the country.
The court’s staffer Govinda Ghimire says the online hearing service began on Thursday last week. The court conducts a meeting on Zoom by providing advocates of both sides with a meeting ID and passcode and they can plead for their clients from their own residences, according to him.
Likewise, the court sends other necessary documents for the hearing online.
Although the court has halted regular hearing, it is conducting the trial for the cases of the special nature such as habeas corpus, the extension of remand, and hearing for a decision about sending suspects to the judicial custody.
