Kathmandu, January 28
Police have arrested Rakesh Agrawal, the operator of Annapurna and Indira sugar mills, on the charge of failing to pay the farmers for the sugarcanes they sold on time.
Agrawal was arrested at his own house in Tripureshwar of Kathmandu on Wednesday evening, informs SSP Ashok Singh, the chief of the Metropolitan Police Range, Kathmandu.
Police had also received a complaint against him.
After the farmers launched an agitation in Kathmandu in December 2020, the government had decided to arrest the industrialists if they fail to clear the outstanding payments. Accordingly, Manoj Agrawal, the owner of Lumbini Sugar Mill, was also arrested.
