Apache RTR 200 4V RTFI BS6 is yet another addition to the TVS two-wheeler fleet available in Nepal.
TVS was probably the first company to introduce a BS6 compliant two-wheeler in Nepal and others are following the same. Not long ago, Yamaha has released its popular MT and FZ series with BS6-compliant engines here in Nepal. Since BS6 has been standardised in India, you can see the effect of that rule in Nepal as well. Since Nepal imports almost every two-wheeler from India, which means all the coming vehicles will have BS6 engines very soon.
Jagadamba Motors, the authorised distributor of TVS in Nepal, has introduced Apache RTR 200 4V RTFI BS6, the first TVS motorcycle to get a BS6 engine in Nepal. RTFI here indicates “race-tuned fuel injection”. Along with the new engine, this bike also has got some smart features. For instance, probably for the first time in Nepal, this bike will give you call/SMS notifications from your phone during the ride. Hence, it is certain to be popular in the market.

Design
The design and the graphics of the bike remain unchanged from its predecessor. Apache RTR 200 4V RTFI BS6 comes with an aggressive claw-styled LED headlamp along with redesigned DRLs, giving the bike a sportier vibe while also improving nighttime visibility. With Racing DNA unleashed as per TVS, the bike also gets a styling sports race-inspired graphics
Adding to the design elements, it has a racing double-barrel exhaust, race-tuned slipper clutch, high-performance radial tyre, split-seat setup, engine cowl and aggressive tank cowl. It surely is one of the best-naked sports bikes in Nepal.
Performance
Apache RTR 200 4V RTFI BS6 retains the 197.75cc four-stroke, oil-cooled, FI engine but offers a better motor. TVS has really upped the game here and has provided three riding modes for the rider, which is something usually seen on higher segment bikes. The three modes–namely, the sports mode, urban mode and rain mode–uniquely prime the bike’s engine and ABS for optimal performance. The rider can adapt to any condition with a dedicated ride mode switch. This can provide riders with a sense of sophistication.
It can generate a maximum power of 20.82PS at 9000rpm whereas a maximum torque of 17.25Nm at 7250rpm. These power figures may be similar to the previous generation of Apache bikes, but gear ratios have been revised here, which means there is more power available lower down the rev range. An interesting addition to the 2021 Apache RTR 200 4V RTFI BS6 is the front suspension setup. Though it still has a telescopic fork setup, it features preload adjustments which add a layer of flexibility that no other 200cc bike has on offer. TVS says the bike’s front end can be tailored for riders of varying weights, allowing for a more reactive front end that will be quicker to steer.
Safety and other features
For safety purposes, Apache RTR 200 4V RTFI BS6 is equipped with disc brakes at both ends with single-channel ABS. It also features a special wave bite key, which means only the original key can start the ignition and replicas cannot be used. Also, the bike is equipped with a Euro grip Protorq SR racing spec radial tyre, with increased traction control, stability, and durability.
Apache RTR 200 4V RTFI BS6 features a Smart X connect system which was first introduced in Ntorq and it makes the user experience even better. Along with the Smart X connect system, Apache RTR 200 4V RTFI BS6 also includes first-in-segment glide through technology (GTT). This feature enables the motorcycle to move with gradual release of the clutch and no throttle input, resulting in hassle-free riding on dense roads. With this technology, the motorcycle can get up to 7km/h in first gear, 12km/h in second gear, and 17km/h in third gear.

Verdict
Apache RTR 200 4V RTFI BS6 is a feature-packed bike that has many first-in-segment features for its price range. It has features like Smart X connect, GTT, Navigation features, riding modes, adjustable suspension, brakes and clutch. This is also an indication that even two-wheelers are shifting towards technology and smart features. There are literally no bikes in the market within this price range or even double the price range that can provide the same feature as for them. Always promoted with “racing DNA unleashed”, the bike is built around for the same. This is one of the best bikes for this segment that will compete against Pulsar NS 200 FI, MT15, FZ 25 and Pulsar 220.
With everything built for the bike to go faster, it would have been great if it had also had a dual-channel ABS, which is already available in Nepal. In addition, it also lacks the power to compete against other 200-250cc bikes. Regardless, it is one of the best bikes in this segment.
