Kathmandu, September 15
Asia Society has decided to honour renowned eye surgeon Dr Sanduk Ruit, who has saved (more than) 100,000 eyes, with 2016 Asia Game Changer Awards ‘for bringing the gift of sight, and productive life, to those most in need’. Other awardees include Muzoon Almellehan, Marita Cheng, Soo-Man Lee, IM Pei, Ahmad Sarmast, Dureen Shahnaz and Karim Wasfi, the non-profit stated in its homepage.
The awards ceremony will take place in New York on October 27. Dr Ruit, among other honours, has also received Ramon Magsaysay Award.
