Kathmandu, April 17

International Cricket Council’s development director Tim Anderson has pressed for early resolution of dispute in Nepal’s cricket governing body.

Anderson made it clear ICC cannot let two rival cricket associations engage in dispute over their legality.

Both of the associations have been claiming that they are Nepal’s authorised cricket governing body. Anderson had discussions with both the government-formed Cricket Association of Nepal and the CAN formed after election. During discussions, Anderson said he advised both the bodies to sort out the matter. The ICC official said he had received positive response from the associations.

Lauding Nepali cricketers for their talent and supporters for their spirited support, Anderson indicated at a press conference that ICC is running out of patience because of the dispute between two CANs.

Anderson indicated that ICC may ban CAN if the dispute does not end at the earliest. Even if there’s a ban (on CAN), Nepali cricketers will get opportunities to play (international matches), he said.

Anderson pointed that the US cricketers are playing cricket, despite a ban on the cricket association there.

At the ICC board meeting scheduled for next week, Anderson will present a report on the CAN dispute. ICC will hold discussions on the matter on the basis of this report, Anderson said.
