Bhutanese King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck, who is in Kathmandu on a private visit, offered prayers at Swayambhunath today. Following the rituals at Swayambhunath, he proceeded to Boudhanath for further prayers.

King Wangchuck arrived in Kathmandu this morning via Tribhuvan International Airport, where he was welcomed by Foreign Minister Arzu Rana Deuba. From the airport, his motorcade traveled through Sinamangal, Tinkune, New Baneshwor, Maitighar, Thapathali, Tripureshwor, Teku, Kalimati, Tahachal, and Chhauni before reaching Swayambhunath.

After offering prayers and taking photographs at Swayambhunath, he departed via Kimdol, Bhagwan Pau, Shobha Bhagwati, Sorhakhutte, Lainchaur, Keshar Mahal, Museum Gate, Jai Nepal Hall, Krishna Pauroti, Lhotse Chowk, Gyaneshwor, Ratopul, Gaushala, Chabahil, and Chuchhepati to reach Boudhanath.

The king is scheduled to leave Kathmandu around 2:40 pm today via Tribhuvan International Airport.

To ensure the king’s security during his visit, tight measures have been implemented. The Nepal Army conducted a rehearsal at the airport last Wednesday in preparation for his arrival.
