Kathmandu, February 9
The District Government Attorney’s Office has filed a case against Roshan Parajuli at the Kathmandu District Court in connection with the misuse of passports belonging to Nepali actors Keki Adhikari, Aryan Sigdel, and Deepak Prasad Acharya, among others.
In 2022, the artists had lodged a complaint with the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB), alleging that Parajuli had misused their names and documents. He is accused of engaging in human trafficking under the pretense of filming a movie in Norway.
Parajuli had applied for visas at the Norwegian Embassy in Delhi, claiming to take 14 individuals, including Keki and Aryan, to Norway for shooting the film Timro Nazar. The fraud was exposed when the embassy contacted the Nepal Tourism Board for verification.
Following the revelation, Keki, Aryan, and Deepak publicly denied any involvement. Parajuli is also accused of forging Nepal Tourism Board documents and signatures.
According to the prosecution, Parajuli created a fake film company, Bluebird Pvt Ltd, and fabricated documents to obtain Schengen visas. Investigations revealed that most of the 14 visa applicants were not actual artists but had paid money to be taken abroad under false pretenses.
The attorney’s office has requested an arrest warrant against the fugitive suspect under Section 57 of the National Criminal Procedure Code, 2017. It has also sought appropriate compensation for the victims and the Nepal Tourism Board.
