Over 20,000 tourists visited Chitwan National Park during the Dashain holidays. Through this, the national park has collected Rs 18.5 million in revenue.
According to Govinda Prasad Tiwari, the information officer of the national park, a total of 20,060 tourists visited the park during the Dashain holidays, including 13,233 Nepalis, 779 from SAARC countries, and 6,048 foreigners.
SUVs carrying tourists entered the park a total of 737 times, generating revenue of Rs 3.6 million from SUV fees alone.
Around 88 per cent of tourists entered the Chitwan National Park from Sauraha as the Tiwari said 17,637 tickets were sold.
The park charges an entry fee of Rs 150 for Nepalis, Rs 2,000 for foreigners, Rs 1,000 for tourists from SAARC countries, and Rs 5,000 for each jeep entering the park. Information Officer Tiwari mentioned that the current situation is positive, thanks to the influx of tourists during Dasain and the resulting increase in revenue.
