Kathmandu, September 13
Madheshi Morcha (United Democratic Madheshi Front) on Wednesday accused the ruling coalition of the Nepali Congress and the CPN-Maoist Centre of conspiring against Madhesh’s issues.
The UDMF has become suspicious of the coalition after Prime Minister Prachanda failed to implement the pledge of registering a Constitution amendment proposal in the Parliament before embarking on a visit to India.
This, despite continuation of talks between the government and the UDMF. Prime Minister Dahal has invited leaders from the UDMF and the ruling alliance for talks at 1 pm on Wednesday.
Mahendra Raya Yadav, president of the Tarai Madhesh Sadbhavana Party, said there have been delays in registering the Charter amendment proposal because of the ruling coalition, adding that they cannot wait much longer.
He said: PM Prachanda had said he would come up with a draft proposal on Constitution amendment before leaving for India. Now, the situation is such that Congress and the Maoist party are not on the same page over amendment.
He pointed that the government is conspiring against the amendment, pointing that the main opposition CPN-UML does not want the amendment. Yadav said: They are unwilling to bring forth a concrete proposal. In the name of the UML, the government is conspiring (against the Constitution). At this point, blaming the UML is pointless.
Yadav said: If there is an agreement between the ruling coalition and us, the UML will not block Constitution amendment.
Meanwhile, the taskforce that Federal Alliance had formed under Laxman Lal Karna for doing homework on Charter amendment has not been able to able to begin its work due to a dispute between UDMF and the alliance.
