Ilam, April 28
The counting of votes started at 11 am in Ilam-2. The all-party meeting held at Gautam Buddha Auditorium (City Hall) with the concerned bodies agreed to count the votes.
Chief District Officer Indradev Yadav said that it was decided to start the counting after all the parties and independent candidates agreed to solve the problems that may arise during the counting.
Chief District Officer Yadav said that the agreement was reached based on the election code of conduct and vote counting procedure. The all-party meeting was held today as all the ballot boxes did not arrive on Saturday.
The collection of ballot boxes was completed only at 2 am on Saturday. Counting of votes will be held at City Hall. Out of 115,889 voters of Ilam-2, 69,287 voters voted in Saturday’s by-election. According to the notes made by the polling officer and the police, it is 60 per cent.
In Ilam-2, 19 candidates from political parties and independents are competing for the position.
