Kathmandu, May 21
The Department of Customs has introduced a fast-track procedure for the import of various goods and supplies required for the prevention and treatment of Covid-19.
The department says the importers can benefit from the fast-track procedure to import medical oxygen, oxygen cylinder, oxygen concentrator, oxygen tank, essential medicines such as remdisivir, and masks among over 20 goods.
However, the importers are required to declare their imports as essential goods and show evidence of their essential nature to make a claim for the fast-track customs procedure.
Once they meet the criteria, the customs officials prioritise the checkup of such goods and clear them on the condition they will provide various documents related to the purchase electronically later. They can import the goods on weekends also.
Customs offices across the country have been directed to launch the service accordingly and send details about the goods imported through this way.
