Kathmandu, March 10
Nepal’s highways have ‘India’ written on them everywhere, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport Bijaya Kumar Gachchhadar said on Thursday, asking the United States to leave its mark on Nepal’s lifelines by investing in their upgradation.
Gachchhadar was referring to Indian assistance for Nepal’s major road projects, while speaking at the inaugural session of the Business Forum and Expo for which the US Embassy is providing assistance.
The promulgation of a new constitution has led to the creation of an investment-friendly climate in Nepal, Gachchhadar said, asking both foreigners and Nepali investors to invest in Nepal without fear.
I have obtained PhD in politics, Gachhadar said referring to his profound knowledge of Nepali politics. There will no longer be political conflict in Nepal, like in the past, he said, asking investors to invest without fear.
Gachchhadar said he has already floated a proposal before American officials to invest in the upgradation of Nepal’s highways. “In a few days, the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport will make public a five-year action plan that aims to turn major highways of Nepal into six-lane arteries,” Gachchhadar said.
