Kathmandu, February 16
A female police officer on duty was shot dead in Ghorahi Sub-Metropolis of Dang.
Chief District Officer Ram Bandhu Subedi informed that Dhanmaya Gurung, who was on duty at Damodar Chowk of Ghorahi Sub-Metropolis, was shot dead on Thursday evening.
She was taken to Rapti Institute of Health Sciences for treatment where the doctors declared her dead.
Dhanmaya was shot by her husband, Assistant Constable Yam Bahadur Jhakri, Chief of Lumbini Police Office, Kuber Kadayat said.
Yama Bahadur, who works at the training centre in Nepalgunj, reportedly arrived in Ghorahi on Thursday and killed his wife.
Chief District Officer Subedi informed that Yam Bahadur, who shot his wife and ran away, was arrested by the police near Arjun Khola in Lamhi.
“The incident took place around 7:30 pm.,” Chief District Officer Subedi told Onlinekhabar.
The reason for the murder is yet to be revealed and the investigation is ongoing, said Kadayat, chief of the Lumbini Province Police Office.
