Kathmandu, April 23
The Chief Executive Officer of the National Reconstruction Authority, the government body formed to spearhead post-earthquake reconstruction works, has commented that the Ministry of Finance did not cooperate with his plan for developing integrated settlements.
Sushil Gyewali claims the settlements would otherwise be a solution to many of affected communities.
In an interview with Onlinekhabar on the eve of the fourth anniversary of the earthquake, Gyewali says the Ministry did not allocate budget to develop 125 integrated settlements in the land pooling model during his earlier term as the CEO.
He claims he does not have sufficient time to think of integrated settlements in the second stint.
“But, if anyone comes after land pooling, we will support them for the management of infrastructures,” he informs, “I am trying to partner with the Town Development Fund, where I worked earlier, for this.”
“Likewise, Province 3 Chief Minister has announced to introduce a land pooling project in the budget statement for next year. The Reconstruction Authority will extend its technical support.”
