Kathmandu, June 7
The Bijay Kumar Gachchhadar-led Forum-Loktantrik has laid claim to the post of one Deputy Prime Minister and two ministers in the Deuba Cabinet.
According to sources, Gachchhadar had joined the Pushpa Kamal Dahal government with just a few days remaining in Dahal’s tenure, just to secure a place in the Sher Bahadur Deuba Cabinet. Gachchhadar has told his party leaders that Deuba had promised to make him Deputy Prime Minister and grant his party three ministerial positions.
The party voted in favour of Deuba in the election for Prime Minister on Tuesday evening. Deuba is likely to name a ‘mini’ Cabinet on Wednesday afternoon, with Gachchhadar as one of his deputies. Although Gachchhadar has demanded the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport, Deuba is likely to assign him the Ministry of Federal Affairs and local Development.
Deuba is learnt to be in favour of Gyanendra Bahadur Karki for Minister of Physical Infrastructure and Transport.
Forum Loktantrik has already recommended Jitendra Dev and Gopal Dahit as ministers in the Deuba Cabinet.
