Gold prices surge by Rs 1800

Gold

Kathmandu, June 6

The price of gold has surged to new heights, breaking records within two days. On Thursday, the price of gold increased by Rs 1800 per tola, reaching Rs 144,000 from Rs 142,200 on Wednesday.

This spike follows an earlier high on Tuesday when the price hit Rs 142,700 per tola. In the international market, gold reached its peak at $2,450 per ounce on May 20 and was priced at $2,368 per ounce on Thursday at 10:30 am.

The rise in gold prices is partly attributed to the recent increase in the customs rate by 5 percentage points through Nepal’s budget, causing local prices to escalate more sharply than international rates.

Additionally, the price of silver saw an increase of Rs 25, bringing it to Rs 1850 per tola on Thursday.
