Kathmandu, April 26
The National Child Rights Council (NCRC) under the government has urged the orphanages (children’s homes) in operation across the country to get permission.
The council in a notice today asked the institutions to apply for the licence within coming May 18.
There is a provision that allows a children’s home to operate by meeting the set standards.
Earlier, on January 5, the council issued a notice urging operating orphanages to apply for the licence. But none applied for the same.
Therefore, this time, the regulatory body has also warned of action against the institutions operating without its permission.
It has asked the local governments and the respective provincial ministries to inform about the children’s homes operating within their respective areas without official permission.
