Kathmandu, September 16
The Council of Ministers has decided to shift the Office of the Vice-President to Bahadur Bhawan, Kantipath to the Samaj Sewa Bhawan in Lainchaur of Kathmandu, where the office of Social Welfare Council is currently located.
A meeting of the Cabinet recently made the decision upon a request from Vice-President Nanda Bahadur Pun. The government has decided to shift the SWC office to Bhrikutimandap.
Meanwhile, officials and staff of the SWC have protested the decision. In protest, they have been putting a black flag at the gate and wearing black bands.
Nepali Congress lawmaker Divya Mani Rajbhandari also objected to the decision while speaking at a meeting of the House of Representatives today, citing the building being use for social service should not be used to provide luxuries to a single person.
