Kathmandu, May 23
Officials busy in preparing the annual budget statement for the next fiscal year say the government will allocate ‘sufficient’ budget to the ongoing development projects if they have progressed a lot in a past few months.
National Panning Commission member Sushil Bhatta says, “Along with the government priority, we will also look at the progress made by the projects.” If it is found that the projects need more budget, the sufficient amount will be given.
On the other hand, various ministries and their subordinate bodies have also sent proposals for prioritising the old projects instead of announcing the new ones during the annual annoucement. Ramesh Prasad Singh, Secretary at the Ministry of Urban Development, informs that the 95 per cent amount the budget the ministry sought from the government is for current projects.
Earlier, while addressing a parliamentary meeting recently, Finance Minister Yuba Raj Khatiwada has also shared that the government would like to celebrate the next fiscal year as the year to complete incomplete works.
Besides completing various construction and maintenance works at public places, the government has also targeted to complete the reconstruction of individual households affected by the 2015 earthquake within next one year.
Meanwhile, the government wants to announce some ambitious new projects that may require more than one year to complete.
