Kathmandu, November 3
Hello Sarkar has received a number of complaints from people about problems they have been facing due to measures taken for providing security to India’s President Pranab Mukherjee.
Pradhyumna Upadhyaya, under-secretary at Hello Sarkar, said 90 per cent of complaints received through the government-run hotline in the last two days (Wednesday and Thursday) were related to problems arising from these security measures.
Most of the complainants pointed that India had imposed a blockade against Nepal a year ago, questioning the government for according honour to Mukherjee by forgetting the embargo.
Government does not observe birth anniversary of Prithvi Narayan Shah, who created modern Nepal by unifying ever-fighting princely states, but declares the day of arrival of Mukherjee as a public holiday. Is this right?
They pointed: The government does not observe the birth anniversary of Prithvi Narayan Shah, who created modern Nepal by unifying ever-fighting princely states, but declares the day of arrival of Mukherjee as a public holiday. Is this right?
Upadhyaya said quoting some of the complainants: The country is in a difficult pass. A day’s closure costs Nepal crores of rupees. The government could have declared public holiday for the Kathmandu Valley only instead of shutting the whole country.
Many people have made mention of last year’s blockade and we have duly informed the Prime Minister’s Secretariat about complaints received, he said.
Upadhyaya made it clear that all they can do is inform the Prime Minister about these complaints.
