Honda Nepal has launched their new 125cc motorcycle, the Honda SP 125 BS6 in Nepal. Honda’s entry-level motorbikes like the Honda CB Shine, Honda CB Shine SP and the Honda CD 110 Dream are very popular in Nepal for their reliability and mileage. The CB Shine is still the favourite among many.

The SP 125, designed to meet the demands of this market, offers new features alongside BS6 emissions compliance. With jobs like ride-sharing, food delivery, and product delivery continuing to rise, there is a growing preference for lower CC bikes that offer adequate mileage and performance for city commuting. With its new features, the SP 125 has the potential to be the top choice for many as their first bike.

The motorbike will compete against the TVS Raider, Yamaha Saluto, Hero Super Splendor and Bajaj Pulsar 125.

Let us see what the motorcycle delivers in terms of specs

Design

The Honda SP 125 BS6 carries the beginning motorcycle design language like the other Honda bikes such as the Honda CB Shine. On the front, it has an LED DC headlamp. The headlamp is bright and has a sharp look. The indicators are halogen bulbs and also have a sharp look. The front mudguard also has a sharp look.

Performance

The Honda SP 125 BS6 is a compact yet powerful bike, with a 123.94cc engine with a maximum power output of 8kW at 7,500 rpm and a maximum torque of 10.9 Nm delivered at 6,000 rpm. It offers smooth acceleration and performance for its size. Its 4-stroke, SI engine ensures efficient combustion, while the compression ratio of 10.0:1 contributes to its performance on the road. It is equipped with a 5-speed gearbox.

The Honda SP 125 BS6 features a Combi-brake system (CBS) with an equalizer which reduces braking distance to ensure proper road safety. The two variants differ in the braking. The DRS variant features a 130mm drum brake on both the front and the back whereas the DDS variant features a 240mm front disc and the same rear drum of 130mm.

The bike’s suspension system, with telescopic front forks and hydraulic rear suspension, offers a comfortable and stable ride. The rear suspension also has 5-step adjustability for comfortable riding and customisation. It has tyres of size 80/100-18 M/C 47P in the front and 100/80-18 M/C 53P in the rear. The rear tyre being a bit wider helps in better grip and traction.

It is built on a sturdy diamond-type frame. Its BS6 emission compliance helps in environmental sustainability. It has a 12V, 4.0 Ah battery which handles the electricals.
