2023 Honda Dio 125: City commuter is back with dynamic features

Honda Nepal has started the delivery of its popular scooter, the Honda Dio 125 in Nepal. The scooter was officially launched at the NADA Auto Show 2023. It was launched in India back in July and made its way quite early in Nepal. The scooter has a wide range of attention as the 2023 model gets a new design with better performance and features.

The Honda Dio 125 comes in two variants, Standard and Deluxe. There are a few differences between the two variants along with price. The older 110cc Dio remains one of Nepal’s most popular scooters and now comes in a BS6 version. The 125cc variant is also BS6 compliant, contributing to reduced pollution and improved mileage performance. The scooter is offered in a diverse array of colours. It competes with the TVS Ntorq and Suzuki Avenis in the market.

Design

The Honda Dio 125 has a refreshed and modern look. The design is a mix of the older Dio and the Honda Grazia. The new Dio has a lot of parts made up of fibre materials which has helped the weight to reduce by a lot. The use of fibre materials has also improved the performance.

The Honda Dio 125 has the same V-shaped LED DRL but is not connected. The headlights are LED too and are quite bright with the iconic Dio styling. The side indicators however are halogen but do its work well.

On the side, the Dio 125 looks like the Honda Grazia with sharp and modern looks. The seats are well cushioned and soft for comfortable rides. The floorboard is also wide and the legs can rest properly there.

The rear part of the Dio 125 is completely changed and has new looks. Both the indicators and the taillight are halogen. The back cover design and the taillight design are also inspired by the Grazia. The overall look of the scooter is enhanced more with dual-tone colour options and 3D chrome accents.

The Honda Dio 125 comes in two variants; Standard (Std) and Deluxe(Dlx). There are a few key differences between the two variants. The Dlx variants have the remote keyless feature which uses H-Smart technology for Smart Key which has features like Smart Safe, Smart Find, Smart Unlock and Smart Start. The other difference is the availability of Kickstart. The Std variant has a kickstart whereas the Dlx variant has only self electric start.

The digital instrument cluster is available in both variants of the Honda Dio 125 and is the same as the Honda Grazia. There are two instrument clusters with the upper one displaying speed, rpm, turn indicator, headlight, eco mode, idle start-stop, check engine light and key immobilizer. The lower digital instrument cluster displays other information like fuel, real-time mileage, average, trip meter and time.

The storage space on the Honda Dio 125 is also decent with a 18-litre boot space capacity. There is also a glove box on the left side which is also spacious. There is a hook on the side of the glove box to hook your bags and things.

The other new addition to the Honda Dio 125 is the dual-tip exhaust. The exhaust note has more bass and punch.

Performance

The Honda Dio 125 has a 4-stroke, SI Engine with a capacity of 123.92 cc delivering good performance. It has a maximum power output of 6.09 kW at 6,250 rpm and a torque of 10.4 N-m at 5,000 rpm which is efficient in city rides. Its PGM-FI fuel injection system optimises fuel delivery, which gives a mileage of about 48 kmpl. The automatic transmission is smooth and can reach a top speed of 95 kmph. It has a 50mm bore and 63.113mm stroke that is responsive on the road. The scooter is BS6 2.0 compliant which reduces the carbon emission produced by the engine.

The Honda Dio 125 also has a smooth ride with the front telescopic suspension and 3-step adjustable spring-loaded hydraulic rear suspension which provides a comfortable ride. The brakes on the Honda Dio 125 use a Combi-braking system. The front has a disc brake and the rear has a drum brake which has pretty reliable stopping power. The tyre of the scooter uses a 90-12 54J on the front and 100-10 53J on the rear. The tyres are tubeless and the alloy black-coloured wheels add to the performance.
