Huawei has silently launched its flagship for 2023 at the end of August; the Huawei Mate 60 Pro.
Huawei’s sanctions from the US on Google apps and services have indeed affected it. However, in the Chinese market, it is still a competitor against the giants like Xiaomi, Oppo, Vivo and OnePlus.
Huawei is one of the most loved smartphone brands with some popular series like the P series and the Nova series. Some notable and popular ones among these in Nepal are the Huawei P30, Huawei P30 lite, Huawei Nova 2 and the Huawei Nova 3.
The Mate 60 Pro is the successor of last year’s Mate 50 Pro. There are many changes in the design aspect and performance in this year’s flagship. What is interesting is Huawei has brought a 5G phone with its own Kirin chip for the first time.
Let us see what the flagship offers.

Design and Display
The Huawei Mate 60 Pro has a dual-tone design. The back of the phone is made up of glass with a curve separating the two-toned design. The upper portion has a matte finish whereas the lower part has a metal finish and continues along the frame. The frame is also made up of metal and is slightly curved. The rear camera has a circular camera module that is slightly bumped and looks like a modern finish of the Mate 40 series.
In the middle of the camera module is written XMAGE, which is the camera system Huawei uses now. On the front is a triple-hole punch cutout which houses the selfie camera and the remaining two house sensors for 3D face unlock. You can also make the triple hole-punch camera cutout like a dynamic island available in the iPhone 14 Pro series from the settings.
The Huawei Mate 60 Pro has a 6.82-inch OLED display with vivid colours, offering a 1.07 billion colour range and P3 wide colour gamut. It provides a resolution of FHD+ at 1,260 x 2,720 pixels. It has an adaptive refresh rate, ranging from 1 to 120 Hz and also features high-frequency PWM dimming at 1,440 Hz, reducing flicker and eye strain. It has a responsive touch experience with a 300 Hz touch sampling rate. The screen is made durable with the second generation of Kunlun glass and comes with an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance.

For graphics processing, it is equipped with the Maleoon 910 GPU. In terms of operating system, since it is available in the Chinese market for now it runs on Huawei’s own HarmonyOS 4.0.
It is available in one RAM option of 12 GB paired with one storage option of 512 GB.
