Kathmandu, July 18
Amid a hullabaloo in Nepal over why Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi was not congratulating his newly appointed counterpart in Nepal, Modi finally ended all speculations on Sunday night, just a few minutes after Sher Bahadur Deuba won a challenging vote of confidence in the House of Representatives.
“I look forward to working with you to further enhance our unique partnership in all sectors and strengthen our deep-rooted people-to-people ties,” Modi said in a tweet last night.
Meanwhile, Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan also congratulated Deuba on Monday morning.
“Pakistan looks forward to further deepening its cordial ties with Nepal and would continue to work closely with Nepal on issues of common interest,” Khan said in his congratulatory tweet.
Appointed the prime minister on July 13, Deuba had won the vote of confidence in the House on Sunday, securing his rule for the remaining 1.5 years of this House’s term.
